Herschel crater, 40 km in diameter, is at the center of this frame taken looking towards the southeast from Apollo 12 in orbit about the Moon. To the right is the 164 km diameter crater Ptolemaeus. Herschel is centered at 5.7 S, 2.1 W in the lunar highlands. Note the terraced walls and central peak. Ptolemaeus has a shallower rim and flat floor. North is at about 8:00 (Apollo 12, AS12-H-50-7431)
