Apollo 16 metric mapping camera oblique view of the 110 km diameter crater Theophilus. Compared to the other craters on the Moon, this is relatively young. Centered at 11 S, 26 E, Theophilus lies on the Kant Plateau in the Central Highlands. Mare Nectaris is the smooth dark area at the upper left. A complex central peak and terrace walls are visible in the crater. This view is looking almost due south, from an altitude of 115 km. (Apollo 16, AS16-0692)
